Wuthering Waves

What happens when you absorb a defeated monster and turn it into your next special move? Wuthering Waves builds its whole progression around that idea, letting Rover collect Echoes from enemies across Solaris-3 and equip them as summons, stat boosts and combat skills.

Rover and the World of Solaris-3
Rover wakes with no memory in a world reshaped by a catastrophe called the Lament. The first major region is Huanglong, centered on the city of Jinzhou, where Rover meets early companions such as Yangyang, Chixia and Baizhi.
Exploration is fast and vertical. You can run up walls, use a grappling hook and glide from high points, which makes crossing mountains much quicker than in older open-world games.
Tacet Fields and other hotspots across the map hold stronger enemies and rewards. Waveplates act as the stamina system for claiming those rewards each day.
The Echo System in Wuthering Waves
Defeated enemies sometimes leave an Echo behind. Absorbing it adds that monster to your collection, and each Resonator can equip several Echoes at once.
One equipped Echo becomes an active skill, letting you transform into or summon that creature mid-fight. The others mainly provide stats and set bonuses, so farming the right Echo set is a long-term goal.
Hunting rare Echoes from bosses is where many players spend their late-game time. Getting a good main stat on a high-level Echo can take a lot of attempts, and that grind is a common complaint.
Combat That Rewards Timing
Combat is real-time with dodges and parries. Hitting an enemy at the right moment during its attack triggers a counter that staggers it, which feels great once you learn boss patterns.
Team swaps are a core mechanic. Each Resonator has Intro and Outro skills that fire when switching in and out, and chaining these is how strong teams deal burst damage.
The Forte system gives each character a unique mechanic, such as charging a gauge or entering a special state. Learning one character's Forte is what turns them from a button masher into a real damage dealer.
Convene and the Gacha Side
New Resonators and weapons come from Convene banners. Limited banners use Radiant Tides, standard ones use Lustrous Tides, and both are bought with Astrite earned through play.
Pity guarantees exist for five-star results, and the game also offers a selector for a standard five-star after a set number of pulls. Players generally consider the system generous compared with similar games, though limited characters still create pressure.
Fans of the cat girl Nekomata in Zenless Zone Zero will find a similar mix of stylish characters and fast fights here, with a much bigger world to explore.
Questions About Wuthering Waves
- What does absorbing an Echo do? It adds the defeated enemy to your Echo collection. Equipped Echoes grant stats and set bonuses, and one of them becomes an active combat skill.
- Who should a new player build first? Rover and one of the strong early companions like Yangyang or Baizhi carry the opening chapters well. Focus upgrades on three characters for a complete team.
- How do you get Astrite quickly? Story quests, exploration chests in Huanglong and regular events give the most Astrite early. Clearing Tacet Fields with Waveplates also helps upgrade materials.
Wuthering Waves turns every defeated monster into a possible new skill. Explore Huanglong as Rover, master parries and Intro skills, and the Echo you absorb next might change how your whole team fights.
